Session Description:
Log Analytics has a new language!  If you're at all familiar with Log Analytics, you know that one of its selling points is its powerful query language that lets you retrieve and analyze data collected from a variety of sources.  And that language is about to get even more powerful.  In this session, we'll introduce you to Kusto which is the language currently used for Application Insights and is now being implemented for Log Analytics.  We'll build several sample queries from and contrast it with the current query language.  We'll show off new features such as the ability to join tables and add dynamic custom fields and also how we can use machine learning smart operators to further analyze patterns and insights from the data.

What you will learn:
  • Difference between Kusto and current Log Analytics query language.
  • Difference between using Kusto for Log Analytics and Applications Insights.
  • How to use different language features such as joins and custom fields.
