Session Description:
OSD Frontends provide interaction at OS deployment time soliciting input from users, providing feedback to users, or performing other activities that built-in tasks cannot handle (or at least cannot handle well). User input include whatever is needed for the OS deployment to successfully complete and that cannot be automatically determined. Examples include things like time zone, computer name, Active Directory OU, and software. Frontends can also provide pre-flight checks, provide feedback to the interactive user, and basically anything that is needed. This session will cover all the aspects of getting started and using an OSD frontend in your OS deployment efforts and task sequences.

What you will learn:
  • Don?t use a CAS
  • HTAs suck
  • How to make your task sequences interactive
  • How to use a front-end to validate that a system is ready to be "imaged"
  • How to customize a front-end
  • Whether you should build a front-end or use one from the community
